Software Design
REA Wall is a software package designed to assist Designers and Engineers with the engineering analyses necessary to design mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls and gravity walls that use modular facing elements and geosynthetic reinforcements. The software was specifically developed for use with the modular systems. The design methodology is based on standard engineering principles and can be used with any modular system with the correct design information provided. NCMA 2009 manual was used in development of the software along with the AASHTO Bridge Design Manual.
Design Methodology and Differences
There are some differences between the design methods used on the manufacturer manuals and the methodology used in the design software. The results in the software are slightly more conservative, although either method is applicable. Under Earth Pressures we discuss the differences in more details.
